iLIfe Router Series

Here is a series of routers design for Orange, which is the key brand of France Telecom, one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators.

The goal of this project was to design a series of routers for home users. In the research of the market, plenty of users hope the router is a decorator on their desk beside the computer not a cold ugly device only. Depend on the requirement, the aim to identify an essential design approach, and to create simple yet personal, sentient objects.

Concept 1

Frame

Based on the research of this project, it was obviously noticed that people would like to put their photo frames beside their computers on the desk. So this was the original idea that combining the two things together. And I decided to make the form simple and pure to suit the target group.

Concept 2

Piano

This concept of  routers is inspired by the reflection of piano keys.

The surface of it is procedded by two different ways,  so even it is painted in same color, the dissimilar reflection keepss the sense of piano.

Light Seed

When you turn off the light
there is a seed
When you turn on it
you can see a tree growing
Touch the light
feel the nature.

Sea Kid

Sea kid is a name of a flock of robots which they can learn to cooperate to solve simple problems like searching the lost people in the sea.

The design concept comes from the friendly action that dolphins rescue the in-trouble human beings. In addition, the robots assemble to finish the task by communicating with each other efficiently like an ant community, and they learn to cooperate to solve simple problems.

It is The Honorable Mention of the International Design Competition Osaka 2006.

Ya-Shua

Ya-shua is a manpower motion toothbrush for environment friendliness, exact cleaning time, and more fun.
You can electricize this power toothbrush by your own work without any charger or batterys; in addition you can give yourself an adequate cleaning time for keeping dental health by the scale. It’s a brand-new toothbrush for everyone, especially the people who concerns about the environment, and kids, who might find it a novelty.
The innovative dynamoelectric structure makes the manually generated electricity provide enough power for cleaning. And, the toothbrush vibrates till the electric charge dies off.

Shelter In a Cart

Homelessness is a complex issue encompassing multiple facets of society. The non-profit design competition organised by DesignBoom is a first step to resolve the situation of the homeless.
Design a cart that can provide shelter and storage. Urban homeless use carts to carry their possessions and to collect goods (like bottles, cardboard, etc.) that they then return to various recyclers in exchange for cash. this provides a small and valuable income.
Design a shelter-cart, just a temporary solution for homeless. While we would dearly love to see affordable housing for all it just seems impossible in these times of economical restraint and government inaction.

It was a team work with Jiang Jing, Zhu Pengcheng, Chen Wenzhe, Zheng Chaoran, Fu Yetao. We designed two options for the homeless.

project 1:

1/4 Trible

The idea originated from China’s red lantern, which symbolize the reunion.
Because 4 unites become a tribe, so the device would allow homeless people spontaneously live in groups in several regular places.
Living in groups can help the urban homeless to communicate easily. The big area living in groups can bring homelessness to society attention. And also help persuade the government promptly to deal with the problem of homelessness. So, we hope goverment should provide the affordable safe and secure housing for everyone.

project 2:

2/3 Cover

One of  them, 1/4 tribe, was  The Honorable Mention of “Shelter in Cart” design competition by Designboom 2006.
There are 130 works selected out of 4247 participants.
It was my first time to join in an international design competition with my classmates which brought me a lot of happiness.
